Obituary

Mary Elizabeth (Cabral) DaSilva, 88, of Fall River passed away on September 8, 2024. She was the wife of the late Jose Bento DaSilva. Born in Somerset, MA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Emilia (Ferreira) Cabral.

She is survived by her four children, Theresa M. DaSilva of Fall River, Elizabeth M. DaSilva and her longtime companion, Jim Gilligan, of Pawtucket, R.I., JoAnn (DaSilva) Beland and her fiancé, Christian Tobia, of Wareham, MA, Joseph DaSilva and his fiancé, Kayla Graham, of Fall River; her  nine grandchildren, Vanessa Brooks, Timothy Seguin, Kyle Beland, Ronald Thomas III, Ryan Beland, Vanessa Gomes, Hayden Thomas, Brady DaSilva, and Jackson DaSilva; two great-grandchildren, Janelle Meattey and Harrison Seguin; two brothers, Joseph Cabral and his wife, Cheryl,  of Virginia, and Peter Cabral (who she referred to as her baby brother)and his wife, Helen, of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Margaret Rondeau and the late Noreen Ferreira.

Mary Elizabeth graduated from Diman Vocational High school in 1951. She worked as a foster grandma at Word Day Care for many years before retiring. Her hobbies included word search, art, music, sewing, cooking, and karaoke. An enthusiastic Elvis Presley fan, Mary Elizabeth loved to entertain, and, in her younger years entertained at VNA hospitals with her singing and dancing routines. She participated in the Ms. Senior Sweetheart Pageants which included her impersonation of Elvis Presley. Mary Elizabeth loved her children and family, especially loved her role of being a Vavo, and will be will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts.

Following a private cremation, a Memorial Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 19th, during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel.
