Mary M. (Silvia) Hadala, age 89, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009, at the Highlander Rehab and Nursing Center in Fall River, following an illness. She was the widow of Sylvester Hadala. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Raul Silvia and the late Antonia (Aguiar) Silvia. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was employed for many years as a seamstress in the garment trade of this city and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. In her younger years, she enjoyed ballroom dancing with great passion. Mary was a communicant of Saints Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church in Fall River. Surviving family members include her son, Paul S. Hadala of Fall River, two daughters, Mrs. Antonio (Catherine) Mello, also of Fall River, and Mrs. Thomas (Donna) Castro of Westport, MA, a brother, Harold Silvia of Bristol, RI, a sister, Laura Medeiros of Fall River, three grandchildren, Daniel Mello, Abby Castro and Eric Castro, and several nieces & nephews. Friends and family were invited on Monday, October 19, to a Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter & Paul Parish. Following the Mass, Mary was brought to rest in Notre Dame Cemetery, on Stafford Road in Fall River.
