Mary I. Sousa, 84, of Somerset, formerly of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday November 9, 2018 at Somerset Ridge Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Carlos A. Sousa, with whom she shared many memorable years of marriage. Born in Sao Vincente, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao Cabral Cosme and Maria Lourdes (Almeida) Cosme. She was a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. Mary loved cooking, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed traveling to such places as Portugal, New Hampshire, Florida, and Venezuela. A devout Catholic, she was a long-time member of the St. Anthony of Padua Church Women's Guild and always involved in it's many church functions. But most important to Mary was family, especially her two loving granddaughters. She leaves: her son, David Sousa and his wife Ana of Fall River; two granddaughters, Clarice Ann Parsons and her husband Peter and Morgan Erin Sousa, both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 15th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
