Mary Lucy (Fonseca) Kaszyk , 100, of Somerset and the beloved wife of the late Michael Kaszyk, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Fall River and long-time resident of Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Alvaro and Mary (Camara) Fonseca.

Mary Lucy was very intelligent, always keeping up with current events and ready to share her opinion of the injustices in this world. A lover of poetry and prayers, she could recite them from memory when she felt you needed enlightenment. She was always ready to laugh, mostly at herself, a trait more of us should have! She was warm, caring, generous, gifted, and religious. She would always end a phone conversation or visit with a blessing for you and your family. The blessing of her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by sisters, Dorothy Ferreira and Otilia Ferreira; granddaughter, Sarah Purdy; great-grandchildren, Jarius and Zaina; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Donna Purdy (late husband, Raymond); grandmother of the late Michelle "Shelli" Purdy and sister of  the late Palmeda Lennon, Deolinda Costa, Hilda Letendre and Sophia Fonseca.

Following her wishes, she was entombed privately at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
