Mary E. Murphy, 100, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at the Southpointe Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center. Widow of James Murphy. Born in Newport, RI, daughter of the late John and Mary (Perry) DeSouto. Mary loved animals and greatly enjoyed housecleaning. Her family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the staff at Emeritus, Southpointe and Hospice for their love and great care that they showed to Mary. Her survivors include her brothers, Antone DeSouto of Florida, Dennis DeSouto of New Bedford, Robert DeSouto of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late John Souza, Joe Souza, George Souza, Jesse Souza, Peter DeSouto, Gloria Medeiros, Margaret Thorpe and Irene DeSouto. Her funeral service was held on Thursday, February 19, in our Fall River chapel followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
