Mary D.
Pavao
d. Sep 18, 2025
Mary D. Pavao, 82, wife of Joseph Pavao, Jr., passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in St Michael Azores, the daughter of the late Gualdino Cabral and the late Andreza (Rodrigues) Cabral, she emigrated to Fall River in 1950.
Following her employment for many years in the local textile industry, where she became an accomplished seamstress, Mary worked at Raytheon for 15 years, then with O'Journal for 10 years. She also worked for a time in real estate sales and ran her own business for a few years in Fall River called PC Novelties.
Active in the community, Mary volunteered with the Lion's Club and the Good Samaritans and participated in church fundraisers. She enjoyed cooking, going on casino trips, and organizing card playing leagues.
Besides her husband of 61 years, she is survived by: a daughter, Brenda Rodrigues (husband Greg) of Wrentham, MA; a brother, Manuel R. Cabral (wife Kathryn) of Swansea, MA; beloved sister-in-law (who was like a daughter), Joanna Pavao of Southampton, NY; dear friend of 45 inseparable years (who was like a sister), Lynn Medeiros of Tiverton, RI; four grandchildren, one great grandson, and seven nieces and nephews. Mary was also the mother of late Brian Pavao, and the sister of the late John J. Cabral (wife Carol of Fall River).
Before her private cremation, a visitation period for her relatives and friends was held on Saturday, September 20th, in our Fall River Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mary's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; 800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html .
