Mary T. Ricardo, 85, of Somerset, widow of John Ricardo, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born on the island of Faial in the Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel S. Thomas and the late Ana Silveira, she emigrated to Somerset in 1959.

Prior to her retirement, Mary worked in the local textile industry for many years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("ILGWU" now called UNITE). She was also employed with the Town of Somerset for 17 years as a cafeteria worker at the North Elementary School.

She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family. Mary had no children of her own however at 16 when her mother died, she helped raise her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by: four siblings, Tina Vilao (partner John Newcomb) of Tiverton; Joseph Thomas (wife Sandra) of Swansea; Larry Thomas (wife Joanne) of Assonet; and Fern Macedo of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 29th, at St. John of God Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery both in Somerset.
