Mary (Rapoza) Sardinha, 95, of New Bedford, wife of the late Frank M. Sardinha, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Home. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Camara) Rapoza. Mary worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. She loved crocheting, knitting, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed camping and traveling, particularly to such places as Bermuda, Aruba, California, and Truro, Massachusetts. In her younger years, she was a member of the Parents-Teachers Association at her children's elementary school. A devout Catholic, Mary also enjoyed attending her weekly prayer meetings. But most important to her was spending time with her loving family. She leaves: her children, Katherine Cabral (late-husband Joseph), and Joanne Sardinha, Kenneth Linhares, Sr. (son in law) , all of New Bedford, and Frank "Rocky" Sardinha, Jr. and his wife Sandra E. of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; seven grandchildren, Scott Cabral, Melissa Sullivan, Kenneth Linhares,Jr., Danielle Cabral, Andrew Sardinha, Matthew Sardinha, and Daniel Sardinha; eleven great-grandchidren; five great-great-grandchidren; a sister, Olive Teixeira of Grafton, Ma.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Jennifer Cabral Masud and the sister of the late Rose Mathias. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 24th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Private cremation followed.
