Mary "Penny" (Amaro) Vasconcellos, 80,of E. Briggs Rd, Westport, formerly of Plain St, widow of Oscar Vasconcellos, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at Highland Manor Nursing Home. Born and raised in Fall River, daughter of the late Jose P. & Maria P. (Amaro) Amaro, she moved to Westport in 1954. Prior to her retirement many years ago, she was employed as a switchboard operator at the former Truesdale and Union Hospitals. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday (12/12) in St. George's Church, Westport. Committal services followed at Notre Dame Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Cabral, Jose Ferreira, Christopher Ferreira, John Arruda, Steve Aguiar and Joe Aguiar.
