Matilde D.
Camara
d. Jan 14, 2022
Matilde D. Camara, 75, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Anne's Hospital following a brief illness. She was the widow of the Afonso C. Camara, who just passed away this past Christmas Day. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Justino Pereira and the late Maria Conceicao (Salvador) Sousa.
Prior to her retirement she was a machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. Very artistic, she loved crafting, cooking, baking, knitting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed gardening, making her own jam, and trips to the casino. But what was most important to Matilde was spending quality time with all of her family.
She leaves her children, Victor M. Camara and his wife, Linda, Inez Camara and her long-time companion, Brandon Young, both of Fall River, Michael A. Camara and his husband, Erik Strzempko, of Providence, Rhode Island, and Sandra Doyle and her husband, Michael, and Theresa Greaves and her husband, Benjie, both of Fall River; her eleven grandchildren, Jorden Camara, Christian Camara, Evan Camara, Victoria Camara, Julian Boutin, Liam Greaves, Sebastian Greaves, Lincoln Doyle, Emma Young, Atticus Doyle, and Draven Doyle; two sisters, Maria P. Sousa of Westport and Maria Melo of Fall River; her three brothers, Miguel Pereira of Canada and Jose DaCosta and Eduardo Pereira, both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews.
Their Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 20th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by their committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly pray for Afonso and Matilde by having a Mass said in their honor.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
