Matilde B. Sousa, 78, of Florida, formerly of Westport, wife of the late Anselmo Sousa, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2018. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Felipe and Maria Conceicao (Marques) Borges. Prior to her retirement, she was a machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. Matilde loved cooking, sewing, making her own white cheese and baking, particularly her delicious biscoits. She also enjoyed traveling to the Azores and simply being with her loving family. She leaves: her son, Paul B. Sousa of Seekonk; two granddaughters, Jaimie L. Sousa and Katelyn A. Sousa; brothers, Antonio Borges and his wife Mariana of Fall River, Manuel daSilva Borges and his wife Rosa of the Azores, and Francisco daSilva Borges and his wife Julia of Fall River; sisters, Ascencao Estacio (late husband Jose) of Fall River; and Nelia Cabral and her husband Jose of Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Goncalo, Aida Borges, Belmira Pavao, Filipe Borges, and Jose daSilva Borges. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 23rd, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
