Obituary

In loving memory of Matthew Evan Proc, age 39, who passed away on November 7, 2023.

Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Stephen B. Proc and Kerry A. Sullivan and his siblings: Lisa Richards and husband Michael, Stephen B. Proc II, Koren Dorsett, Shauna Saxon and husband Richard, Erin Silvia and husband George, Isaiah Brewster and wife Sydney, Elijah Brewster, Shaymus Sullivan, and Nevaeh Sullivan.  He leaves behind nieces and nephews: Cassidy Martinelli, Mason Silvia, Lincoln Silvia, Richard Saxon, Harnedy Saxon, and Khari Brewster.

Matthew also leaves behind his partner, Crystal McGuire along with her children, David, Chase, and Nevaeh. It wasn't enough time, but in the time they did have, they built a life full of love that is Matthew's legacy. The greatest tragedy is that Matthew leaves behind an unborn son. Already the source of so much love and joy, it will be through our stories and memories of Matt that he will know his dad and that he is cherished and loved.

To know Matt was to know his love of racing. As a kid he could drive anything with a motor and he did…fast. He raced go-karts and then sport trucks and moved up to pro stocks. He was happiest behind the wheel, speeding toward the checkered flag. He shined and you loved it for him.

Matt's life was full of simple pleasures. He loved Marzilli's Italian grinders, Ma Raffa's lasagna, McDonald's plain cheeseburgers, and Tom and Jimmy's coffee frappes. More than just a meal, these were moments of shared love, teasing, and laughter.

Matt was a sports fan and as a kid he played baseball, soccer, volleyball, and golf. He loved fishing and really any excuse to be outside.

Matt's love for the outdoors guided his work and he became a hardscaping contractor. He had plans for the future and was taking steps to go out on his own.

Matt was an animal lover and his best friends through the years were Briggs Ann Stratton, Kota, and Karma. These companionships brought peace and contentment and rounded out the fullness of his life.

Honor Matt in your life by laughing, loving, and forgiving. His short time with us has been the most painful lesson on the fragility of life.

Following a private cremation, Matthew's family hosted 2 events celebrating Matt's Life which were well attended. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Matt can be made to his son's Trust Fund. Contributions can be mailed to:  Erin Silvia, 15 Elm Street, Assonet, MA 02702.
