Maurice Joseph Bastille, Sr., 72, of Virginia, formerly of Fall River, husband of Eileen (Quintal) Bastille, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2022 in Wythe County Community Hospital following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Leo Bastille and the late Helen (Desrosiers) Bastille.
An Army Veteran of the United States, he proudly and bravely served his country during Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he worked for New England Sanitation as a truck driver for many years. He loved deer hunting, shooting pool, NASCAR, and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed fishing and playing Nintendo Wii with his wife. But most notably, Maurice held family to be of the utmost importance and spending quality time with all of them.
Besides his devoted wife of forty-eight years, he leaves his loving children, Maurice Joseph Bastille, Jr., and his wife, Dona-Lee, of Fall River, and Lisa Byers and her husband, Aaron, of Rural Retreat, Virginia; his seven grandchildren, Cora, Cody, Dannielle, Troy, Connor, Storm, and Dakota; his four great-grandchildren, Penelope, Levi, Simon, and Anastasia; one sister, Annette Bastille of Westport; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard Bastille, Norbert Bastille, and Raymond Bastille.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, February 16th, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal with Military Honors at Notre Dame Cemetery both in Fall River.
