Maurice (Moe) Beaudoin, 70, of Berkley, loving husband of Maureen (Oliveira) Beaudoin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Fernand G. Beaudoin and the late Beatrice (Carrier) Beaudoin.

Prior to retirement, Maurice was a Civil Engineer for the United States Army Corps of Engineers for 39 years. Maurice began his distinguished career with the Corps of Engineers, New England, in October 1972 following graduation from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth). His career progressed through a succession of positions of higher responsibility within the Construction and Engineering Divisions and in 1991 became the New Bedford Resident Engineer. For more than 20 years, Maurice and his staff performed a variety of work for the Cape Cod Canal and the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier. His office was responsible for significant dredging and marine work throughout southern New England. In 2012, Maurice was inducted into the Distinguished Civilian Gallery for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. Throughout his career he earned multiple performance awards and letters of commendation.

Maurice was also both a Registered Professional Engineer and a Registered Land Surveyor and, as a Berkley resident, he served the community on many town boards including the Planning Board and the Conservation Commission. In 1988, he was awarded Citizen of the Year for his Civic Service. After his retirement, Mr. Beaudoin was employed by Jacobs and worked in the New Bedford office.

Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves his loving children, Philip L. Beaudoin and his wife, Amy Chapin, of Falmouth, ME, and Nicole L. Beaudoin of Newton, MA; his sister, Louise Furtado of Tiverton, Rhode Island; a brother, Henry Beaudoin of Fall River; his Godson, Nathan Mello of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; and one niece. He was also the brother of the late Rene Beaudoin.

Although his funeral arrangements were private, his family is planning (hopefully this spring) to celebrate his life, the details of which will be announced here.
