Obituary

Maurice "Moe" Chouinard, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Wilfred Chouinard and the late Laura (Berube) Chouinard.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of sixty years, Shirley (Bertoncini) Chouinard; his two children, his son, Stephen Chouinard and his wife, Deborah, and his daughter, Lori Wood and her husband, Robert. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Christopher Chouinard, Nicole (Chouinard) Carreiro, Alyssa Wood and Brittany Wood and his seven great grandchildren, Zachary , Jacob, Julia, Isabella, Tyler, Alexander and Samuel; his sister, Annette Chouinard; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Moe attended Diman Vocational School on Hartwell Street graduating in the year 1959. After becoming a Master Electrician, he was accepted as a member of Local Union 437 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, serving as it's President for numerous years. He also served on several boards including N.E.C.A MA and RI Chapters, Fall River Labor Council, Fall River Airport Commissioner and the International Order of Lions; and taught Electricity and Code Class at Diman Vocational Technical High School.

In 1981 he purchased Mello Electric Co., Inc. from his friend and mentor, Joseph E. Mello. There he was President and CEO until retirement in 2003.

Splitting his retirement time between South Florida and his most favorite place in the world, Delano Island; where he cherished time spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends, his great sense of humor, and his zest for life. He will truly be missed.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 1st, at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton. A private cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Moe's memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
