Messias P. Correia, 70, of Greenville, Rhode Island, formerly of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Mariano and Maria Jose (Melo-Pacheco) Correia. Prior to his illness, he was a presser in the local textile industry. He loved to go for long walks while listening to his favorite music such as the Beachboys. He had a strong affection for animals, having a pet ferret and his beagle, "Valente" and also his other canine friends, "Ciao" and "Bella". Messias was a kind, funny, and loving brother, uncle and friend who sorely will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves: his sisters, Esmeira Melo (late husband, Joao) of Fall River and Gloria P. Ferreira (late husband, John) of Rhode Island; his brothers, Joao P. Correia and his wife, Maria, and Antonio P. Correia and his wife, Maria Jose, both of Canada; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jaime Pacheco Melo and Jose Pacheco Correia. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, March 5th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
