Obituary

Michael H. Champagne, 57, of Somerset, MA, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA, following a long struggle with lung cancer. He was the husband Madeline A. (Silvia) Champagne. Born in Fall River, he was a son of Mary J. (Bobola) Champagne of Fall River, and the late Henry W. Champagne. Although raised in Fall River, he resided in Assonet, MA, for many years before moving to Somerset in 2000. Michael was employed as a senior engineer for many years at the Dominion Nuclear Power Plant in Waterford, Connecticut. He was a member and past president of the East End Sportsman's Club in Fall River and served on their Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Father Joseph Boehr Council 4753 of the Knights of Columbus in Tiverton, RI. In addition to his wife and mother, he is also survived by a son, Brian M. Champagne of Assonet, a daughter, Stacie L. Champagne of Fall River, s step-son Eric M. Gauthier and his wife Stacey of Somerset, a brother, John W. Champagne and his wife Rita of Fall River, two step-grandchildren, Cole Gauthier and Alec Gauthier, three nieces and a grand nephew. His Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Raymond Cambra, was offered on Monday (12/31) in Sacred Heart Church. Committal services followed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
