Michael Kaszyk, 90, of Somerset, husband of Mary Lucy (Fonseca) Kaszyk, passed away Monday 8/20/12 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Manchester, NH, son of the late Lucas & Mary (Olszanska) Kaszyk, he lived in the Fall River/Somerset area most of his life. Employed at Globe Mfg for over 30 years, he then worked part-time at WSAR radio station for many of his retiring years. An Army veteran of WWII, he fought in the battle campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes & Central Europe. Inquisitive and social by nature, Michael always enjoyed a good conversation. Besides his wife, of 65 years, he leaves: a daughter, Donna Purdy (husband Raymond) of Somerset; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Purdy & Shelli Purdy; a great grandson, Jarius; many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Peter Kaszyk & Catherine Padrenoss; and uncle of the late Joseph Kaszyk. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, ASugust 24, in St. Michael's Church, Fall River followed by his committal with military honors and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
