Michael Lecko, age 87, a resident of the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, formerly of Niagara Street, passed away on June 28, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital, in Fall River, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Elvira 'Livie' (Travassos) Lecko. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John Lecko and the late Mary (Havelik) Lecko. Mr. Lecko celebrated his 87th birthday at the Catholic Memorial Home on Tuesday, the 24th of June. The guest of honor entertained the crowd of family and friends with his singing and harmonica performance. A Fall River resident for over sixty years, he was a property maintenance man, employed for over twenty years at the Tower Mill Outlet in Fall River, until his retirement in 1999. Prior to entering the United States Navy during World War II, he labored for several years in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. Returning to civilian life after the war he worked in the textile trade of Fall River for many years. Michael enjoyed playing bingo and attending PawSox games. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Dallman and her husband Winston Dallman of Fall River, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Anna Polifka, Eva Kopacz and Stephen Lecko. His funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Stephen Salvador in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter & Paul Parish. Committal Service was held at Notre Dame Cemetery.
