Obituary

Michael W. Tatzel, 77, of Fall River, husband of Lorraine M. (Medeiros) Tatzel, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Berlin, Germany, the only child of the late Erwin Tatzel and the late Gertrude (Wajciechowski) Tatzel, he emigrated to Fall River in 1970 and became a citizen of the United States.

Prior to his retirement, Michael was employed as a machinist at the former Globe Mfg. for 42 years. A US Navy veteran, he served his country honorably in the late 1970s, and prior to that had served in the German Navy with NATO. Michael enjoyed membership in the Tin Can Sailors and loved cooking and skiing.

Besides his wife, of 53 years, he is survived by: a daughter, Heidi Pimentel (husband Bill) of Swansea; two grandchildren, Sgt. Timothy J. Atkinson, US Army, and Nicholas Atkinson; and three great grandchildren, Jace, Haven, and Shea, with one more (Rory) on the way.

Following a private cremation, His Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 24th, Holy Trinity Parish Church.
