Miguel D. Amaral, 79, of Fall River, husband of Maria C. (Leandro) Amaral, passed away at home peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Born in Algarvia, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Francisco Amaral Silva and the late Alice Dias (Pimentel) Amaral, he emigrated to Fall River in the early 1970s.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at a shoe manufacturing company, then at a boat building company for a number of years. A former president and longtime member of the Don Carlos Social Club, Miguel enjoyed fishing, watching soccer, and playing with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, of 33 years, he is survived by: a son, Matthew Amaral (partner Jocelyn Murray) of Fall River; five siblings, Maria Olivia Resendes of Fall River, Luis Amaral of St. Michael, Azores, Fernanda Couto of Toronto, Canada, Maria Conceicao Amaral of Toronto, Canada, and Elvira Paquet of St. Michael, Azores; six grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Kendall, Nia, Aliciana, and Mason; two great grandchildren, Kayleah and Brandon Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Sandra Pereira Raymond; and a brother of the late Manuel Amaral.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 26th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. A private cremation followed.
