Obituary

Nabiha "Bea" Aoun Michael born February 19, 1930, in Jezzine, Lebanon passed away on June 21, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Nheme and Mountaha Karam Aoun. She was the wife of the late Joseph "July" Michael. July and Nabiha met in Lebanon in 1952, married and embarked on a remarkable journey together to his hometown of Fall River to start their life.

Bea's hard work and determination were evident in every task she undertook. She worked as a seamstress at Tioga Sportswear and Russell Clothing where many of her friends worked. Many days they enjoyed homemade Lebanese cuisine for lunch and were sure to share with all their coworkers. She then started a career in the Fall River school system lunch program where she became the supervisor in the BMC Durfee High School cafeteria until her retirement in 1987.

Nabiha loved to host family and friends from all over the world. Many would spend summers enjoying her entertainment. Her home was a sanctuary of Lebanese hospitality, where she shared her delicious recipes and stories with family and friends. Her passion for Lebanese cooking and baking never allowed anyone to leave her home with an empty stomach.

She was a communicant of St Anthony of the Desert Parish and spent much of her free time volunteering at church functions baking and cooking many traditional Lebanese dishes. She was also a member and former President of the Lebanese American Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by three children, John J. Michael and his wife Jacqueline, Gary A. Michael and his wife Teresa, and Lila M. Camara and her husband, Fall River City Council President, Joseph D. Camara, all of Fall River, MA. She was the proud Sitto [grandmother] of Joseph J. Michael (Laken Lima), Kristina E. Michael (Alex Sousa), Jenna I. Michael, Rachael E. Camara, Brianna M. Camara, Joseph M. Camara, and Thomas J. Michael. She had one great grandson Liam J. Michael. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law and cousin Madeleine Michael. She was the sister of Salim Aoun, Leila Kowkabani, Nadime Aoun all of Lebanon, and the late Karim Aoun.

Nabiha loved to travel with her family and see new places. As notable as her work was, it was in her role as a mother that made Nabiha truly shine. Family was at the heart of Nabiha's world and her seven grandchildren were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them. Nabiha also had the joy of witnessing the arrival of her first great-grandchild, bringing immense happiness and pride to her heart.

Her family wishes to thank all the staff at Catholic Memorial Home, her devoted visiting nurse Jessica Goncalves, Accent Home Hospice Care, and Dr. Noelle Pruzan of Center for Sight for their unwavering care and treatment.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, June 26th, in St. Anthony of the Desert Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Nabiha's memory to either St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 No. Eastern Ave., Fall River, MA 02723; 508-672-7653    or   AccentCare Hospice and Palliative Care - Fall River, 275 Martine St., Suite 109, Fall River, MA 02723; 508-730-3463.
