Nagepy "Eva" Margaret Azar, 95, formerly of Clifford St, New Bedford, widow of Azar Joseph Azar, died Thursday after an illness. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late George & Mary (Maroon) Thomas, she moved to Swansea in 2005. A 1937 graduate of New Bedford High School, she worked for various companies in the local garment industry, including the former Elco Dress, for many years until retiring in 1981. A longtime active member of St Anthony of the Desert Church, she was also a former member of Our Lady of Purgatory Church and the St Joseph Guild. Beloved mother of Atty. Thomas J. Azar, Dr. Peter J. Azar and Dr. James A. Azar; grandmother of Dr. David W., Samuel, Zachary, Christopher & Margaret Azar; sister of the late Victoria Hardin, Elizabeth Kazen, Ann Briggs, Rose Pryslopski, George and Peter Thomas. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St Anthony of the Desert Church. She was laid to rest at St Mary Cemetery in No. Dartmouth.
