Nancy Lee Collins, 52, of Somerset, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Fall River, daughter of Elizabeth (O'Rourke) Lee of Somerset and the late William J. Lee Jr, she was a lifelong resident of Somerset. A dental assistant for many years prior to her illness, she enjoyed travel and gardening. Besides her mother, she leaves: two sons, Joseph & Paul Collins both of Somerset; 3 siblings, Bill Lee (wife Patricia) of Brookline NH, Beth Lee of No. Dighton, & Brian Lee (wife Tiffany) of Nashua NH; several nieces & nephews. Nancy was a 1982 graduate of Somerset High School and obtained a Pre-Professional Associates Science degree in 1984 at Bristol Community College. She graduated from Massasoit Community College as a Certified Dental Assistant and worked in endodontics in Swansea with Dr. Garnet and Dr. Gary Cogar, and in Taunton, worked in general dentistry with Dr. Edwin Kennon. She was an active member of St. Thomas More Parish in Somerset where she taught CCD. She also volunteered at the Community Autism Resource Center in Seekonk. Her interests included travel, gardening and knitting prayer shawls for those who were in need. Over the course of the 9 years of living with brain cancer, her faith continued to deepen and grow. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother. She had a special devotion to Divine Mercy and prayed the chaplet of Divine Mercy each day, while also teaching others how to pray it. Even when she was no longer able to speak, as others prayed, she shared their intentions and would follow along fingering the beads. In her last weeks and months, many gathered around her praying this same chaplet to assist her in her final homeward journey. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 5th, in St Thomas More Church followed by her committal St. Patricks Cemetery in Somerset.
