Obituary

Natalie K. DiRuzza, 77, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday. Wife of LTC Santi DiRuzza, US Army (ret), to whom she has been married for 52 years (June 4, 1960). Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Joseph R. and Rose (Vieira) Silvia, she attended local schools, graduated from Durfee High Class of 1954 and attended Bryant College. A lover of music and an accomplished pianist and cellist, in her younger years Natalie participated in many performances and productions with the "Black Friars". She accompanied her husband on his many duty assignments, affording her the opportunity to not only travel extensively throughout the United States and Europe, but to volunteer for many organizations devoted to the welfare and morale of soldiers and veterans, especially at military hospitals. After her husband's retirement, they relocated to Fall River and she became a teacher's assistant in the Fall River School System, a job she truly loved. She was also actively involved in both the St. Anne's and Charlton Auxiliaries and after retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed lunches with the LOLAS, JULIETTES and dinners at the "FRIDAY NIGHT CLUB". Her greatest passion and love was for her children and grandchildren and took great pride in all their accomplishments. Besides her husband, she is survived her children, Col. Barry S. DiRuzza [wife-Jo Dee (Buchan)] and Catherine N. (DiRuzza) Ellis (husband-Edward) and her beloved grandchildren Alexander, Olivia and Cecilia DiRuzza and Karl and Samantha Ellis. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 20, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In her memory, donations can be made to Durfee Alumni School Scholarship, Class of 1954, c/o Atty. Peter Collias, PO Box 2519, Fall River 02722.
