Nelly Carvalho, 89, of Somerset, wife of the late Guilherme Carvalho, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023 Clifton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a brief illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Luis Medeiros and the late Francisca (da Costa) Medeiros.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years.  A very talented seamstress, she also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and gardening. A devout Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily. But what was most important to Nelly was spending quality time with her family.

She leaves her loving daughter, Olga Silvia and her husband, Paul, of Naples, Florida; son-in-law, Michael Anctil of Bedford, New Hampshire; three grandchildren, Mathieu Silvia and his wife, Sharron, Corey Silvia, and Ryan Anctil and his wife, Katlyn; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Silvia, Parker Anctil, and Logan Anctil;  and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Donna Anctil and sister of the late Joseph Medeiros, Irene Costa, Maria Furtado, and Ilda Raposo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 15th, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
