Nelson M.
Teves
d. Feb 5, 2024
Nelson Teves, 47, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024 at St. Anne's Hospital after a long, brave and courageous battle with a serious illness.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of Manuel Medeiros Teves (wife Teresa) and the late Maria Estrela (Mauricio) Teves. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School Class of 1994. He went on to complete an array of technical certifications that led to a career in assessing underground utilities at Advanced Pipe for many years and later Veolia Water where his older brother Aniceto Teves also worked. Prior to this career, he helped his older brother run the family owned business, Dighton Country Store.
Nelson took pleasure in many outdoor activities: fishing, kayaking, biking, and gardening. He listened to country music and was a western movie buff. Although he was modest about his artistic gifts, he was indeed a very talented artist.
Nelson was a good-natured, generous, and dedicated man who loved spending quality time with family and friends. He was a favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He had a childlike energy and a great imagination. This, along with his great sense of humor often led to many hours entertaining the children and adults alike. At times, parents wondered who made more of a ruckus - him or the children? Because of his silly antics, the nickname of "Uncle Nut" stuck when one of his nieces couldn't pronounce his name. Some of his favorite activities to play with them included Rockband and other video games, Speed Uno, Carroms and tabletop paper football. He loved to fly kites and airplanes with the little ones. He was even willing to put on a tiara and sing silly songs for his sweet nieces.
Besides his father, he leaves his siblings, Natercia C. Teves Ferreira (husband Marius) of Naples, Florida, Vilma M. Teves (husband Glenn Amber) of Westport, and Kevin Teves (wife Tricia) of Reading, MA; five nephews, three nieces, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother, Aniceto M. Teves of Fall River.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 12th, at Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery both in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Nelson's memory to: American Cancer Society's Relay for Life via Sophia's Angels Team. https://mobileacs.org/ba9h9r.
