Nicolau P. Mota, 68, of Assonet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dalia C. (Cordeiro) Mota, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born in Calhetas, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Liduino and Gilda (Pereira) Mota. Nicolau worked for many years in landscaping and more recently was working for Quaker Fabric. Besides his wife, Nicolau is survived by his children, Ricarda Goncalves (husband - Jose) of Assonet, Joel Mota (wife - Liz) of Fall River, and Patricia Arruda (husband - Jason) of Fall River; grandchildren, Shana, Nicholas, J.J. and Ethan; a brother, Manuel Mota of Somerset; sisters, Leonor Sousa of Canada, Filomena Azvedo of Canada and Maria Lopes of St. Michael, Azores; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 28th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
