Norberto Silva Braga of Fall River passed away at home on Sunday in the company of his loving wife and younger daughter after a brief battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.

Mr. Braga was born in Faja de Cima, Sao Miguel, Azores,  and was a son of the late Jose and Maria dos Anjos (Silva) Braga. He served in the Portuguese Army and spent two and a half years in Angola. He immigrated to the United States in April 1973 and immediately began work as a machine operator in the dye house for Swan Finishing, where he was employed until his retirement in 2012. Mr. Braga was a spirited man with a personable nature who made friends everywhere he went. He was genuinely interested in people and their histories. He enjoyed scratch tickets and was a frequent participant in Totochuto contest in the Portuguese Times and won on more than one occasion.

Mr. Braga is survived by: his wife of nearly 48 years, Ana Rosa (Morgado) Braga of Fall River; eldest daughter, Christina Braga Parker of Cooper City, Florida; his younger daughter, Monica Braga Fernandes of Fall River (husband-Marlon Fernandes); granddaughter, Sofia Braga Parker of Cooper City, FL; sisters Eduarda Lima of Florida and Hirminia Aguiar of Sao Miguel; his brother Joao Braga of Sao Miguel; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was the brother of the late Manuel and Jose Braga.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 7th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his memory to: Southcoast VNA Attn: Community Affairs, 200 Mill Road Fairhaven, MA 02719.
