Norberto Resendes, 75, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel and Maria da Conceicao (Carreiro) Resendes. He attended the Seminary in Terceira before coming to Fall River in 1965, where he continued his education at SMU. A teacher at the Frank M. Silvia Elementary School, he taught ESL, Spanish and Portuguese. Norberto was a member of the Don Carlos Club and the Fall River Elks Lodge. Survivors include his brothers, Manuel Resendes (wife – Lourdes) of Lisbon, Portugal, Joao Resendes of Fall River and David Resendes (wife – Luisa) of Pickering, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Luisa Raposo (husband - Venancio) of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Jose Resendes, Maria C. Resendes, Virginio Resendes and Antero Resendes. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 17, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
