Noreen M.
Tavares
d. Nov 25, 2021
Noreen M. Tavares, 56, of Fall River and longtime companion of Leonard Baker, Jr., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Born in New Bedford, she was a daughter of Cynthia (Pires) Grenon and the late Kenneth A. Lanagan.
Prior to her retirement, she was an inspector for the Fall River Housing Authority for many years. She loved cooking, reading, the beach, and making people laugh. She also enjoyed cruises and traveling to such places as Florida, Jamaica, Maryland, Mexico, and St. Louis, Missouri. But what was most important to Noreen "Meme" was spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her longtime companion, she leaves: her loving daughters, Lauren Baker and her fiancé, Evan Martinez, Shana Baker and her fiancé, Corey John, both of Fall River, and Kelsey Tavares of New Bedford; her five grandchildren, Elijah Coleman, EJ Martinez, Kyra Baker, Nia John, and Zara John; her three sisters, Dawn Sherman and Amy Phillips, both of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kaitlyn Lanagan of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; her brother, Kenneth Lanagan and his wife, Mary, of Plymouth, Massachusetts; widow of Kenneth A. Lanagan, Debbie Lanagan; her former husband, Antone Tavares; her cousins, especially, "PJ", aunts and uncles, including Dr. Peggy Pimentel, Christine Arnum, Dorothy Brown, and Robert Lanagan; and many nieces and nephews. Noreen also leaves her beloved dog, DaKoda.
Her Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 3rd, in our Fall River Chapel, followed by her committal at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.
