Octavio F. Canhoto, 90, of Fall River, husband of Rosa Maria (Couto Rodrigues) Canhoto, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Santa Cruz das Flores, Azores, he was a son of the late Alfredo J. Canhoto and the late Elisa B. Freitas.
Prior to retirement, Octavio worked as a knot tier in the local textile company, Quaker Fabric.
Besides his loving wife, he leaves his son Alfredo J. R. Canhoto, and his wife Laney A. Bruner-Canhoto, of Framingham; two grandchildren, Carolina and Elisabeth (Ellie); his brother Odilio F. Canhoto his wife Maria Louisa; and two nieces, Marilia and Melissa.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Catholic Christian Burial to be offered at Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society at Espirito Santo Church by calling the Church at 508-672-3352.
