Obituary

Octavio Fortuna, 75, of Somerset, husband of Eulalia (Papoula) Fortuna, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on January 25, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Born in Povoacao, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Fortuna and the late Maria Jose (Amaral) Fortuna.

Octavio was the proud owner of Manuel A. Moniz Construction Company for over 40+ years.

Octavio was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was the perfect role model, hardworking, passionate, and loved his family beyond measure.

Besides his devoted wife, he leaves his children, Scott Fortuna and his wife Diane, of Dighton, and Derek Fortuna and his wife Sara, of Dighton; his grandchildren, Kylie, Emily, Mia and Colton; siblings, Zelia Fortuna Soares, husband Jose, of Sao Miguel, Azores, Mario Fortuna and his companion Odilia, of Sao Miguel, Azores; sister in law, Natalie (late husband Adelino); and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

His Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
