Olivia P. Furtado, age 89, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter and son-in-law, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. She was the widow of Manuel P. Furtado. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Pavao and the late Mary (Vieira) Pavao. A resident of Fall River for most her life, she was employed for several years in the garment trade at various shops in this city. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Olivia enjoyed tending the garden and the company of her family. She also took great pleasure travelling with her family and their occasional visits to the casino. She and her daughter traveled to Alaska, Hawaii and many of the other states as well. They also visited Portugal to see where her parents had been born. Surviving family members include her daughter Susan E. Silvia, and husband Paul, of Dighton, MA, and a sister, Inez Souza of Somerset, MA. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, including her devoted niece Karen Souza who assisted in Olivia's care. She was also the sister of the late Hilda D'Amore, Gilbert Pavao, Denny Pavao and David Pavao. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St Anthony of Padua Church. She was laid to rest at Notre Dame Cemetery.
