Obituary

Patricia A. Fontaine, 87, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, wife of the late Herbert R. Fontaine, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John Goncalo and the late Edith (Dunn) Goncalo.

Prior to her retirement she was a knitting machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. An avid New England sports fan, she also loved crocheting, her game shows, going on cruises, and traveling to such places as Nashville, Florida, New York, and Baltimore. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren she often took care of, Justin and Ryan Fontaine as well as Matthew and Kimberly Imbriglio.

She leaves her best friend and daughter Patricia Kelly of Tiverton, her daughter Michele imbriglio and her husband, Thomas and children of Fall River, as well as Susan Davol of Tennessee, Herbert R. Fontaine, ll and his wife, Eileen of Florida and Stephen Fontaine of Fall River; her many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James Goncalo of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Kenneth Fontaine, Brenda Audette, and Pauline Forcier, and sister of the late Edith Raposa, John, Robert, Francis, Everett and Fleury Goncalo.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers at Landmark Health, Southcoast VNA nurses and therapists, the Portsmouth Fire Department and Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice RI as well as Cynthia Fontaine for all their comfort, support and care.

Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, October 15th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by he committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River where she was laid to rest alongside of her late husband..
