Paul F. Burns, 69, of Swansea, husband of the late Kathryn (Garrity) Burns, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2025, at Boston Medical Center. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Joseph E. Burns and the late Doris (Sylvia) Burns, he resided in Swansea for the past thirty years.
He worked as a laborer at the Naval War College in Newport for many years. Mr. Burns was also a United States Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam Era. Paul loved music and music history. He played the guitar in bands in his youth and regularly with friends throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by: three children, Kaitlyn G. Burns (husband David Peat) of Swansea, Patrick J. Burns of Attleboro, and Paul F. Burns, Jr., of Phoenix, Arizona; two siblings, Joleen Carrier of Hernando, FL, and Doreen Nelmes of Naples, FL; three granddaughters, Anabelle, Connor, and Rowan; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, August 13th, at St. Dominic's Church in Swansea followed by the rendering of Military Honors. His Private Cremation followed. The burial of his cremains will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Paul's memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
