Paul T. Cabral, 64, of Portsmouth, RI, the devoted and loving husband of Clotilde "Corky" (Torres) Cabral, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family after enduring a 15-month battle with stage-4 cancer. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Jose T. Cabral and the late Delores (Pereira) Cabral, and stepson of Maria de Deus (Leite) Cabral of Somerset.

Paul attended BMC Durfee High School from 1970 - 1974, in which he was on the Varsity soccer team. A graduate of the former Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), Paul earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in manufacturing engineering. He was passionate about his career, being employed as an engineer at Raytheon Technologies in Portsmouth, RI for 36 years.

In addition to balancing demands of college academics and work, Paul enjoyed playing the guitar, especially for his childhood sweetheart "Corky." Paul and Corky married on September 17, 1979 at St. Anthony Padua Church and would go on to spend 41 years being the heart of their family. They were best friends, who enjoyed going for scenic drives and walking the beach. Paul was the master of the lost art of letter / poem writing. He composed beautiful pieces which will be forever cherished.

Paul was a loving father of two children, encouraging and supporting both of them to pursue their dreams. He was actively involved in taking his children to activities such as soccer, baseball, and theater. A source of inspiration and hard work, Paul ensured they had the foundation to be successful. Adding humor in all he did, his children remember him for his ability to make them laugh and with his funny stories.

Paul found tremendous joy when he became a grandparent, or as they liked to call him "Gramps." He savored each interaction and showed them great affection. Paul became a kid again when he had grandchildren, whether it was going to the zoo or pretend play, he saw the world through that of his grandchildren.

Despite requiring a heart transplant in 2000, Paul was always active and loved to use his spare time to work on home projects. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed rooting for the New England teams.

He is survived and forever remembered by: a son Paul T. Cabral, Jr. (wife Sarah) of Westfield MA; a daughter Meghan Taves (husband Joel) of Lexington MA; a brother, Daniel Cabral (wife Phyllis) of Ormand Beach, FL; a sister Mary Cabral (husband Michael) of Westport; grandchildren, Benjamin, Braelyn, Andrew James, Connor, John, and Matthew; mother-in-law, Dorothea (Ponte) Torres; brother-in-law, Antonio Torres (wife Laurina); and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 31st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
