Pauline F. Marshall, 99, of Fall River, widow of William G. Marshall, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Kimwell Nursing Home. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel Ferreira and the late Jacinta (Monte) Ferreira, she was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
Employed as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years, she worked at Shelburne Shirt for 21 years and at Needlecraft for 15 years, as well as at Stella Anne for several years. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called "UNITE."
For 18 years she had also worked in the Fall River School System as a "lunch lady" – at Silvia School, Green School, and Spencer Borden from which she retired. A longtime parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church, she was a former member of its Women's Guild. Pauline loved Arts & Crafts and Bingo.
Education had always been important to Pauline, and she was proud of all her accomplishments obtained from an early age. Upon graduating James Madison Morton Junior High School in 1936, she received Certificates of Superior Ability in penmanship, legible rapid handwriting, and business writing. She later earned her high school diploma in 1947 upon completing a 3-year course of study in The Evening High School of Fall River. In the early 1960s, she completed a 12-week course in typewriting and bookkeeping. Even later in life, in the mid-2000s, she enjoyed enhancing her skills by completing a computer training course through Citizens For Citizens.
She is survived by: a son, William Marshall Jr (wife Karen) of Homer, Alaska; a granddaughter, Elise Christian of Austin, Texas; her niece (& caregiver), Pauline Garnett (husband Neil) of Westport; 2 nephews, Paul Ferreira of Fall River, Thomas Ferreira of Attleboro; several grandnieces / nephews & a great grandniece. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Ferreira, Frank Ferreira, Manuel Ferreira Jr., and Vensalau Ferreira.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 29th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
