Pedro P. DoCouto, of Somerset, passed away in Charlton Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was the wife of Maria (Tavares) DoCouto with whom they shared 56 years of marriage. Pedro was born in Rabo do Peixe, Sao Miguel, and was a son of the late Joao DoCouto and the late Candida Anjos Pacheco. Mr. DoCouto was a cabinet maker for many years for the local unions. He enjoyed spending time at the Somerset boat ramp, where he was really well known. Mr. DoCouto was really a social butterfly, there wasn't a person that Pedro didn't become friends with. This was evident when to all around him, as he was always ready to tell a joke and have a good laugh. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Michael DoCouto and his wife Kim of Somerset and Maria Amorim and her husband Alexandre of East Providence, Rhode Island; two grandchildren: Vanessa Grace Couto and Jack Nolan DoCouto. He is also survived by his siblings: Jose Couto and Clotilde Taveira both of Somerset, and Manuel Couto of Coventry, RI and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Emmanuel J. Couto and the brother of the late Joao Couto. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on
Monday, May 22nd,
in St. Patrick Church, Somerset, followed by his committal at the parish cemetery.
