Pedro M.
Silva
d. Nov 11, 2020
Fall River
Pedro M. Silva, 70, of Fall River, husband of Rosa (Miranda) Silva, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Born on January 1, 1950 in Baixa de Banheira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Pedro Silva and the late Felisbela da Conceicao Fernandes. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1984 and lived for a short time in Merrimack, NY, and Newport, RI, before settling in Fall River where he resided for the past 35 years.
He was employed as a shipfitter for many years before retiring in 2010. Pedro loved fishing, animals, and music. He was a skilled carpenter and inventor who enjoyed building and creating useful gadgets and furniture for his family. In his younger days, he had also served in the Portuguese Army.
Pedro and Rosa recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. Besides his loving wife he leaves: his daughters, Sandra Rodrigues (husband Tony) and Andrea Gomes (late husband Eduardo) both of Fall River; a sister, Teresa Silva of England; four grandchildren, Andre Rodrigues, Kelsey Rodrigues, Emma Gomes, and Gianna Gomes; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral service was held on Monday, November 16th, following a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel. His private cremation followed. When the current crisis allows, his family is planning to celebrate his life with a Memorial Funeral Mass, the details of which will be announced here.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pedro's memory to the Alzheimer's Unit at Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Avenue Fall River, MA 02720.
