Peter Pacheco, 93, formerly of Meridian Street in Fall River, and who had been living in hospice at his son's home in New Bedford, passed away on July 10, 2021.
Born in 1928 in Fall River, Peter served in the Navy in WWII and returned home after the war to graduate from Durfee High School in the Class of 1946. He was recalled to active duty for the Korean War, where he received two Battle Stars. His military service continued with the Naval Reserve and the Army National Guard in Fall River, culminating in over 43 years of uniformed service to his community and Nation.
Peter was employed by the Fall River Electric Light Company, retiring in 1991. He also served two terms as President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1465.
Peter was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley (Brochu) Pacheco (Fall River), his father Jose Pacheco, his mother Alcilia (Medeiros) Pacheco, his sisters Maria Rodrigues (Fall River), Virginia "Ginny" Mullins (Somerset), his brother Joseph Pacheco (Fall River), and a grandson, Peter W. Pacheco (Fort Wayne, IN). He is survived by his sons David Pacheco and wife Beverly (Denton, TX), Peter A Pacheco and his wife Cheryl (Green Acres, FL) and Michael Pacheco and his wife Leona (New Bedford), eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 16th, in Holy Name Church followed by his Committal Service with Military Honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
