Obituary

Philip G. Saber, 78, of Fall River, husband of Josephine (Lyle) Saber, died Sun. 8/16/09 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late George & Genevieve (Kalif) Saber. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years through two wars, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era – and while stationed in Thailand from September 1968 to August 1969, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal – retiring as Technical Sergeant in 1972. After serving his country he acquired training in refrigeration and air conditioning repair at New England Tech, then ran his own business, Saber Refrigeration, for 15 years – residing in Fall River for the past 37 years. Philip enjoyed: being around family; going for coffee at McDonalds in the morning; meeting with his friends; going to the Lebanese American Club to play cards; and attending the Calvary United Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder. Besides his wife, of 53 years, he is survived by: sons Philip (wife, Joanne) Saber and Mark (wife, Natalia) Saber, daughters Deborah McGee and Genevieve Saber, fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Michael Saber and brother of the late Eddie and Herb Saber and Nancy Stimer. His funeral service was held in Calvary United Presbyterian Church followed by Committal Services with full military honors at Oak Grove Cemetery.
