Raymond V. Medeiros, 80, of Somerset, passed away Wednesday after a long illness. Husband of Dorothy (Reis) Medeiros to whom he was married for 56 wonderful years. Born in Fall River, son of the late Antone and Gertrude Medeiros. A Marine Corps Veteran, Ray was very active in the local Marine Corps League, LCPL John J. Van Gyzen, Det. #1285. He worked for the Somerset School Department for many years as a custodian. Beloved father of Raymond V. Medeiros, Jr. (wife-Lisa), Rhonda O'Connell (husband-Curtis) and Kimberly Boutin (husband-Michael); grandfather of Raymond O'Connell, Jr. (wife-Jennifer), Crystal O'Connell, David and Shane Jones, Allyssa and Kyra Boutin; great grandfather of Kaden, Logan, Callen and Shawn; brother of William and Joseph Medeiros, Barbara Raposa and Nancy Tabor; brother-in-law of Wayne Reis and the late Manuel Reis. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Ray's family would also like to acknowledge his loyal friend Bruce Aldrich. His Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 24th, in our Somerset Chapel followed by his committal with full military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
