Rene LaPlante, 90, of Fall River, husband of the late Genevieve (Oliveira) LaPlante, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Catholic Memorial Home after a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph LaPlante and the late Claire (Caron) Gauthier. He was a foreman for Rex Cut Products for many years prior to his retirement. A United States Army Veteran, he served our country during the Korean War. Rene loved the beach, the sun, and swimming in the pool. He also enjoyed gardening, always keeping his property in pristine condition. But most important to Rene was spending time with his loving family, especially his two great-granddaughters. He leaves: his daughter, Angela Viveiros and her husband, Joseph, of Fall River; granddaughter, Jennifer Mullen; two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Mullen and Lacey Mullen; his dear nephew, Michael Gauthier and his wife, Valerie, and their son, Jake, and several other nephews and nieces. He was also the brother of the late Doris Soucy, Normand LaPlante, and Roger Gauthier. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 15th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
