Ricardo Moniz, 87, of Fall River, husband of Albertina (DaSilva) Moniz, passed away peacefully on Friday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Povoacao, St.Michael, Azores, son of the late Julio and Irene Cabral (DeMelo) Moniz. Ricardo enjoyed making his own wine, going on cruises, and gardening, passionately tending to his fig trees for hours. His was a very outspoken but friendly man who would give the shirt off his back for anyone. Most importantly, Ricardo was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Besides his wife of fifty-four years, he leaves his children: Elizabeth Rose and husband John and Peter Moniz and his wife Kimberly, of Fall River; his six grandchildren: Kyle Daniel Moniz, Ashley Elizabeth Rose, Kory Michael Moniz, Makaila Nicole Moniz, Jillian Beth Rose, and Makenzie Lyn Rose; his sisters: Maria Rosa DeMelo and Ilda DeMelo Moniz of Brazil; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Eduardo Moniz, Adelina Medeiros, Maria Sousa Leite, and Manuel Boleiro. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, September 1st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
