Obituary

Richard D. DeCosta, 65, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at St. Anne's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel DeCosta and the late Loretta (Ferreira) DeCosta, he lived in Fall River most of his life.

A carpenter in the local construction industry for many years, Richard worked for various companies and was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 112 of Boston. He was also a member of the Liberal Club and enjoyed fishing and football. He was a die-hard Patriot's fan, but he was the biggest fan of his grandkids.

He is survived by: three children, Charlene DeCosta, Melissa DeCosta, and Richard DeCosta all of Rhode Island; three siblings, Kenneth DeCosta, Judy Martin, and Peggy Mendonca all of Fall River; ten grandchildren, Marcus, Dante, Jamay, Louis, Alexis, Xavier, Naviah, Ka-mya, Lamisa, and Hailey; a great granddaughter, Alahna; and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Donald, Stanley and Stephen Decosta.

His Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 30th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by his committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
