Richard Fernandes, age 62, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2010, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, following an illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Manuel Fernandes and the late Cecile (Bessette) Fernandes. A resident of Fall River, he was employed as a sexton at Our Lady of Grace Church for over twenty five years. Always very handy and good with tools, Mr. Fernandes loved to build and race cars. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed deer hunting. Richard will be sadly missed by his two brothers Roger Fernandes and Michael Fernandes (and wife Lydia), his companion, Theresa Duperre, a niece Kimberly Fernandes, and nephew Jonathan Fernandes. Following his cremation, His Memorial Mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 9, in Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport.
