Richard F. Medeiros, 78, of Fall River, passed away Sunday after a short illness. He was born in New Bedford, son of the late Frank and Mary Medeiros. A graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1957, Rick was a talented southpaw pitcher for their baseball team and was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame. A well-known musician, Rick was the band leader and drummer for the Mel-Tones, playing for senior citizens throughout southern New England. He was also a member of the Elks in Fall River. In addition to his son, Kyle R. Medeiros (musical director of Newport Playhouse); he is also survived by his significant other of 19 years, Patricia Gamer and her family: children, Gary (wife-Laurie) and Marc Vasconcellos; grandchildren, Kayla, Kady and Mackenzie Vasconcellos, Britney, Cecelia and Henry Frerotte. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 15th, in Holy Name Church followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to help his family.
