Richard D. Parker, age 66, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Thursday, February, 12, 2009, at the Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida, following a courageous battle with several illnesses. He was the beloved husband of Roberta (Stanley) Parker. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Homer J. Parker and the late Jeanette (LaBonte) Parker. A Somerset resident for most of his life, he earned his business degree in 1964 at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, formerly known as Southeastern Massachusetts University. He was employed as a store manager by the former Anderson-Little Company of Fall River. After working thirty three years for Anderson-Little he retired and moved to Sarasota in 1995. He was a life member of the BPO Elks and the Florida Moose Club. Mr. Parker was a communicant of the Tabernacle Church in Sarasota. He was an avid golfer, recreational boater, and a passionate sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his former lifeguard buddies from Horseneck Beach. In addition to his wife, Roberta, survivors include his three sons, Dr. Christopher Parker and his wife Lauri of Westport, MA, Stephen Parker of Fall River, and Jeffrey Parker of Sarasota, FL. He also leaves two grandsons, Dylan and Luke Parker, three nieces and six nephews. The Parker family received visitors at the Silva-Faria Funeral Home in Fall River Thursday, February 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services were held on Friday morning, February 20, officiated by the Reverend Pastor Stan Telchin with burial following Committal Services in Notre Dame Cemetery on Stafford Road in Fall River. Pall Bearers were Norval Stanley, David Stanley, Paul Cantin, Arthur Allard, Shawn Stanley, Bill Coughlin, J. J. Coughlin and John Kardosz.
