Richard A. Petit, 75, of Tiverton, husband of Eileen (Travis) Petit, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Emile and Stella (Gagnon) Petit.

A United States Veteran, he proudly served as a member of the National Guard for several years during the 1960s. Prior to his retirement, he was Superintendent of Maintenance for Everett Main Bus Repair Facility for many years. He also owned and operated R&K Auto Repair Service on Route 6 in Westport for several years.  An avid Nascar fan and member of the Bay State Street Machines, Richard loved antique and vintage hotrods. He also enjoyed his annual trips to Florida, going on cruises, gardening, and meticulously tending to his property.

Besides his wife of fifty-four years, he leaves: his children, Karen L. Crossley and her husband, Jim, of Swansea, and Kevin R. Petit and his wife, Gail, of Tiverton; grandchildren, Tayla B. Petit, Mackenzie C. Crossley, and Chelsea J. Petit; one great-grandchild, Addison Quinn Sherman; sister, Paulette Sweeney and her husband, Daniel; sister-in-law, Evelyn Petit; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Paul Petit.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 17th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church. His burial arrangements were private.
